  • more photos from the summer online now...

I finally got around to going through the pictures from our trip to Ireland and Italy this Summer and adding a bunch of them to online gallery ... A big part of this was that I was trying out some categorization/classification stuff that Lightroom lets you do. Going through these was also an illustration...

  • A very Bainbridge Sunday

If you're a regular reader of this page and have a good memory, you may recall mention of the Bloedel Reserve back in July. Heading into last weekend we had a forecast for nice(ish) weather and put out a call to visit the reserve... As the days progress our party dwindled down to just Clodagh and...

  • accidental photography lesson: always remember the basics

Recently I changed a bit of my camera gear so I was pretty happy that part of my parents' visit included sites that were good for photography... Most of the pictures I took were from Volunteer Park ( wikipedia ). I highly recommend visiting the park if you live in Seattle and have never made it ...

  • Lake Union's Big Day

It's the fifth of July which means that Lake Union's annual "big day" is over - the " WaMu Family Fourth of July ". It's the one day of the year that we have an amazing amount of traffic and parking restrictions in Eastlake. This year we didn't have a party for the...

  • arg! stupid shallow depth of field (experiments with photography)

Partway through Avi and Prasadi's going away party I switched from taking pictures with a slow(ish) lens to a fast prime so that I didn't have to use the flash anymore. Now that I've gone through the pictures I've seen a few of them where someone's shoulder is in really tight focus. And their face? Slightly...

  • Convenience photography (photos of 1/1/07 fireworks @ spaceneedle)

I've realized that at the moment I'm into "convenience photography". What does that mean? It means that I'm into photography - but I don't really go out of my way to get a better shot or overly delay myself or my travelling companions. Unless one of them happens to also be whereever we are for the purpose...

  • Random photography links (nothing to see here, move along)

Taking a page out of Aaron's book from some time back, posting a bunch of the links I read about photography so that I have them somewhere for when I re-format a machine and lose my "favorites" :). Digital Photography Review - news, reviews, and forums photo.net Bob Atkins - reviews mainly focusing on...

  • Start of "photo of the week"

New feature for posts on kinasewitz.net/Greg that I'm toying with: photo of the week. Right now the plan is to either highlight one of my favorite pictures I've taken, or upload a new photo & highlight it, or if I really like someone else's picture I may even do theirs. With credit given of course...

  • I'm actually getting the hang of this :)

I was in the middle of printing and framing some of my pictures from the trip to the aquarium and realized that I didn't have enough that I liked well enough to frame. Solution? Trip #2 to the aquarium! It's encouraging that I think a bunch of them came out well, hopefully enough to fill the remaining...
